Beauty of Entrepreneurship

March 19, 2019 I lost what I thought would be a promising career. It was nothing like what I dreamed of doing, career wise, but it was what would pay the bills. I was pretty good at my job. So much so that I was only minutes from the interview that would give me the promotion I'd hoped for. My family were excited for me, because only three short years ago, after a devastating divorce, did I move away from my family and branch out on a life of my own. I felt confident. I had hit some road blocks along the way, car repossessions, loss of friends, but I knew that I was so much closer to better days.

On March 19, I sat patiently in the conference room waiting to be interviewed. No one showed. By the time I got back to my desk, there was an emai...

Often time's I'd like to think that the choices I've made in my career objectives were the right choices. I'm sure to some degree we've all grown up around parents or advisors who have told us those specific career opportunities were the best move for us. For example, you always hear that military careers, county, government, and other significant career opportunities are the best to secure. But what happens when they are not?

What I'm about to tell you is going to do a few things: shock you, upset you, make you sort of uncomfortable, and likely take you through a host of other emotions, but bare with me!

On September 10, 2018, I began working for one of those "good jobs." I started my entry-level career at the count...

On average our favorite television series is about 45-50 minutes per episode. Let's say it's a chill day and what started out as one episode, on season one, of that new show folks on Facebook are raving about, is now season two episode three. If you're watching Netflix, perhaps season one was only ten episodes. Okay, not to bad right? You started around 7:30 AM so you have time? Today was your day off. WRONG!

So let's go back to the fact that you are now on season two, episode three of this show. Now I want you to calculate the number of hours that you just wasted. If you don't know the calculations that is 10 Hours and 83 minutes. 10 Hours and 83 minutes is insane, but I can't be mad at you. I do the same quite often. It took me a minute be...

I recently heard a guy speaking negatively towards other men who date women who "look like Precious." I'm sure at some point someone found humor in his comment, but to me I didn't see the connection. Instead, I took a moment to reflect on his analogy. As a writer I have to analyze everything. I know, it's probably as frustrating as that one friend who has to speak politically correct about everything. Trust me when I say I understand, but allow me to point out some important facts.

A few things that I've learned about being a writer is that every story has characters. In this guys joke, he's suggesting that men date women who "look like Precious," but Precious is the character, Gabourey Sidibe is the actual person. ...

I finally picked up my fathers’ watch today after sifting through my drawer of watches to find the perfect one for my interview. I’d recently found this really pretty black shirt, with autumn colored floral print. With the shades of burgundy, tan, blush pink, and maroon, I’d had the perfect watch in mind to compliment my attire. Today I’ll be interviewing for one of the biggest career opportunities I’d been presented with. As a writer, I’ve always dreamt about getting offered a travel opportunity for writers, so this one would definitely put me in the position for that.

My fathers’ watch had seen better days. The gold had faded and the glass was giving that foggy affect when trying to see the time. The battery died years ago. My fat...
