Nia Kamau, formally Dionna Newsome, was born on May 24, 1996 in Baltimore, MD. Since the age of 10 she has had the dream and vision of becoming a published author. She graduated from Carver Vocational Technical High School in 2014 with a high school diploma as well as her 90-hour child care certification. Nia furthered her career and graduated May 2018 from McDaniel College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and Writing. Nia is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. where she has served as secretary and president. Nia is also a poet who goes by the name of NIA The Poet; she has fan favorites such as Queen, Queen Pt.2, Embrace Your Curls, and Evolution. A Father’s Love is her first publication, and the start to many more to come.
